Head Injury or Concussion – Four Medicines You Really Don’t Want to Be Without
Head injury, or concussion, has the potential of being very serious. Even a mild head injury can cause headaches and other symptoms, such as convulsions.
Your brain is soft tissue encased in your scull which is hard tissue. It is a very sensitive organ. It is at one end of your spinal column, meaning it’s rich in nerves.
So already you are looking at medicines for
- soft tissue
- hard tissue
- nerve tissue
- ailments (such as headaches, convulsions) from concussion
Lets look at them one at a time, as it’s possible you’ll need all or some of them.
Arnica is the top injury medicine for any type of injury, and the number one for concussion. Even without thinking about it, you’ll do yourself untold good if you get stuck into this medicine right away. If bleeding occurs in your brain from an injury, this remedy is likely to stop it.
Bleeding in your brain is a serious symptom, as there is no room for the blood to go, being that your scull can’t expand. So take Arnica frequently, if the injury has occurred within the last day or two.
The next medicine, is for the scull, or hard tissue. Symphytum is the number one medicine for bone damage. It takes the pain away and heals broken or cracked bones fast.
Nerve damage can occur and the best medicine to take for this is Hypericum. Nerve damage is associated with a shooting sensation, stinging pains, tingling or numbness. Convulsions can be a result of serious nerve damage to your brain, so taking this after Arnica is likely to prevent that.
If you started to suffer headaches after your head injury, you may need any or all of the above medicines, but you may also need the following, too.
Natrum sulphuricum (Nat sul) is an excellent homeopathic medicine to heal those headaches or migraines, after concussion. Mostly the headaches will be worse during the day, and better at night time.

Holism And Complementary Medicine: Origins And Principles $24.89 A systematic introduction to the principles of holism which underly all complementary and natural therapies, and an account of its place in the history of medicine. The return to holistic therapies is one of the most important developments in health over the past two decades. With preventative medicine being taken more seriously by conventional health practitioners, and the increasing popularity of natural and complementary therapies among consumers, it is clear that a holistic approach will be integral to health care in the future. Holism and Complementary Medicine offers a systematic overview of traditional healing practices, the development of the Western biomedical model from the ancient Egyptians and Greeks to the present, and the holistic philosophy which is the basis of complementary and alternative medicine in the West. The book explores the differences between holistic and conventional biomedical traditions and approaches, acknowledging the strengths of each. It also addresses key practice issues, examining the role holistic principles have to play in today's health system and explaining their place in the therapeutic relationship. Holism and Complementary Medicine is an accessible guide for students, practitioners and anyone interested in the origins and core principles of natural therapies. 'This scholarly exploration of the conceptual evolution of holistic medicine is a fascinating read. Di Stefano is to be congratulated for his articulate insights into healing relationships and how our health paradigms enhance or inhibit our understanding of health and disease.' – Joseph Pizzorno, ND, President Emeritus, Bastyr University 'This is a magnificent read for students of natural and complementary medicine, as well as health professionals and lay public who have often wondered where the movement towards holism in medicine began and is headed.' – Paul Orrock, Head of the School of Natural and Complementary Medicine, Southern Cross University '. . . brings together many threads that link the health of body, mind and society, drawing richly from a larger corpus of intellectual inquiry into history, philosophy, and human endeavor, including clinical medicine.' – Bruce Barrett MD PhD, Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, University of Wisconsin, Madison |

47 Herbal Remedies $4.99 What a wonderful day! It’s early summer and not a single cloud in the sky. You climb over a log that has fallen across the trail and wait for your 10 year old son to catch up.A quick, upward glance at the sunlight filtering through the canopy of trees signals that it’s about time to head back to camp. The crisp, pungent smell of the forest floor reminds you how much you needed this family vacation. You can almost smell the trout that you and Billy caught early this morning frying in the pan over the open fire. Just as your stomach begins to rumble in anticipation, you hear a scream.Your head snaps around and you can see Billy just a few yards down the trail, his arms flapping wildly around his head. Back over the log you jump, and running reach him in just seconds.Billy has upset one very angry wasp. Whipping off your cap, you swat it away and while it’s stunned lying on the ground you send the nasty critter off to meet his insect brothers in the great beyond.Quick examination shows that Billy has been bitten repeatedly by the wasp and is in some serious pain. No medicine cabinet and no drugstore for miles. Your emergency medical kit is back at camp.Eyes darting around the ground near the trail, you spot just what you need. Grabbing a handful of leaves from what looks like a weed, you toss a few in your mouth and chew them quickly. You apply the poultice to the red welts appearing on Billy’s arms and face. Almost as quickly as his screams began, Billy stops crying. Wiping away his tears with the back of his hand, he manages a crooked grin and a sheepish, “thanks Dad.”Disaster averted. As you and Billy begin the hike back to camp, you remember that book you purchased online about herbal remedies and acknowledge it was money well spent! There are thousands of plants that can treat just as many |

A Theology Of Science $25.95 This book reveals a remarkable oddity about the mainstream philosophy of science. While rejecting a noxious relativism, it is unable to ascribe “truth” to scientific theories that also are divorced conceptually from ethics and politics. There is much at stake since these dilemmas have led to a politicized truth whereby “truth” in these areas is often decided ideologically. But the ideology and splintered areas collide head-on with our awareness of ourselves and the world. By relating a world of which we are phenomenologically conscious to a common-sense reasoning, a novel case is made for objective scientific truth, a true causal principle, and the principle’s implication of a First Cause. This Cause, as a Creator of Nature, begets moral norms intrinsic to scientific descriptions of our psycho-biological nature since our nature was created as it ought to be; affording a naturalistic ethics that can be as true as the science that informs it. Medicine and its allied sciences are used to illustrate this moral import in terms of a revitalized support of the traditional family — a perennial norm expressed by the dictum “As the family goes, so goes the state.” Thus a state’s support of the family exemplifies how normative political claims can be as true as a scientific ethics that informs them. The logical link of ethics to science and politics marks the reasoning implicit in a natural theology common to the major monotheistic religions. And so despite the faults of all organizations, this book suggests one reason why those religions flourished over the ages. Outlasting the Roman Empire and modern ideologies that boasted vainly of reigning to the end of history, the religions address a personal spirituality and fulfill human nature. They render coherent an experienced world where truth coincides in science, ethics, politics, and religion. |

I know it was for me.Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve felt nauseous when I travel. I could never sit backwards on the bus or read during a car ride. Whenever I flew, during takeoff and landing I needed to hang my head between my knees to prevent my nausea from completely overtaking my body. I avoided traveling at all costs, not wanting to put myself in a situation where I was unable to control my bodily functions. One of my favorite things about life is that it never seems to let me relax and live in the comfortable world that I’d prefer, and, true to form, as I got older I found myself in a job that required me to fly.I didn’t want to be handcuffed by my nausea, so I accepted the job and hoped I would be able to find a cure for my uncomfortable condition. My nausea, though, |

COLONEL LAMBDIN P. MILLIGAN. T AMBDIN P. MILLIGAJST is of Irish descent, and was -U born and raised in Bohnont County, Ohio. His only opportunities for acquiring an education were enjoyed before he was eight years of age, at which time he could read well. At seventeen he evinced a great desire to have an education preparatory to the study of medicine. His father, proud of his attainments, promised to send him to college, but was compelled to forego so doing by the opposition of his wife, who insisted that no distinction should be made in the education of their children. Subsequently he left home, regardless of the wishes and threats of his father, who declared that he would disinherit him if he did so. Without a dime in his pockets he began his career among strangers. Thrown upon his own resources, all the energies of his mind and body were exerted to- obtain a livelihood, and to these efforts may be traced his after success. He had previously abandoned the idea of studying medicine, and had chosen the profession of law, which he read with great earnestness, and mastered with facility. He stood at the head of a class of nine, examined by a committee of the Supreme Court of Ohio, consisting of Judges Goodnow, Ken- uon,and Cowan, Governor Shannon, Mr. Alexander, and Mr. Carroll. Of this class there are now living the Hon. Matthew Gaston, Cambridge, Ohio; Hon. Peter Saltman, St. Clairsville, Ohio; and the Hon. Edwin M. Stauton, ex-Secretary of War. A few years after, Colonel Milligan removed to Huntingdon, Indiana, where he still resides. For several yehrs he suffered much from epilepsy and spinal meningitis, with paralysis of the lower limbs, during which time he was unable to practise at his profession. Any Mother’s Daughter $9.99 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that some 20 million Americans have contracted HPV (Human Papillomavirus) and 6.2 million more will contract the virus each year. HPV has become the single most sexually transmitted disease. It is known to cause cervical, vaginal, vulvar, anal and penile cancer. However, it is now also associated with cancers of the lung, head and neck as well as oral cancers. Current research is showing that this virus can be transmitted in other ways separate from a component of sexual transmission. This compelling true story of one woman’s lifelong struggle with HPV (Human Papillomavirus), “Any Mother’s Daughter” describes the author’s intensely personal experience with the most frequently sexually transmitted disease. Through the use of her autobiographical accounts, combined with explanations of the various types, grading and potential complications of HPV, the author brings a new understanding to patients. Up-to-date medical information including diagnosis, treatments, procedures, and a host of other material compiled to assist the reader in understanding this most common yet most misunderstood virus and the diseases it can potentially cause.Professor Harald zur Hausen MD, a virologist, HPV researcher and Nobel Prize Winner in Medicine 2008 for his discovery that HPV causes cervical cancer, makes the following comments regarding this “must read” book:”This is not only a book for “any mother’s daughter” but also for everyone who wishes to become informed about HPV infections, but it also belongs into the hands of many practicing physicians who need to refresh their knowledge of HPV.” “Importantly, this book is an outcry shaking up those who are not willing to consider a mainly sexually transmitted infection a serious threat…..” |

As the World Burns: The Sonnets of George W. Bush and Other Poems of the 43rd Presidency $14 Poetry. Ken Waldman’s AS THE WORLD BURNS is the sixth collection from this Alaska poet who is also a touring musician. “A hugely ambitious book, containing over 60 mostly Petrarchan sonnets. Waldman imagines himself in George W’s head and goes from there. Scary stuff! It is a rare but great thing to see a contemporary poet working in the satirical tradition of Dryden, Pope, and Swift….AS THE WORLD BURNS is more than a poetic protest against the way the world is going; although it is that too. It achieves the almost impossible by forcing the reader to comes to terms with George W. Bush, the three dimensional human being”–Nth Position. “Strongly recommended reading in this current political season”–Midwest Book Review. “My guess is that all those folks on the Left will need all the help they can get making it through the next two years, and Waldman’s humor, on the page and in audio form, will be welcomed medicine”–Sing Out! |
